World Affairs Council of Northern California

Executive Producer (San Francisco, CA), June 2016 – Oct 2019

  • Executive produced all editorial content, including a weekly NPR broadcast on global affairs with Ray Suarez and a video series showcasing national thought leaders. Oversaw both live events and taped productions. Crafted a monthly newsletter to amplify reach.
  • Led the media, marketing and communications team in growing the audience, on air, on-site and online. Oversaw all engagement campaigns, via the website, social media, email and paid advertising. Developed meaningful KPIs that measured performance and drove optimization  across the organization. Grew NPR listenership 100%.

  • Led a creative team of producers and editors tasked with developing compelling digital programming for both editorial and commercial clients, including Reuters.com, Breakingviews, CCTV, BBC, J.P. Morgan, EY and State Street.
  • Negotiated and developed budgets that exceeded clients’ expectations and ensured that all projects were delivered on time and under budget.
  • Recruited and managed a global team of videographers, audio engineers, directors, producers and editors to run complex productions both in the studio and in the field. Sourced and developed talent.

HDNet

Freelance Producer (New York, NY), Mar 2007 – Apr 2010

  • Developed and produced long-form documentaries for HDNet’s World Report, the network’s signature news program. With a focus on investigative reporting, stories covered a range of political and cultural topics, including: Native Americans vs. US government, the spread of Islamic extremism in Morocco, and teenage castaways from a breakaway Mormon sect that practices polygamy.
  • Created and managed complex budgets encompassing multiple teams traveling to and within multiple countries. Recruited and managed talent and crew.

Producer (Washington, DC), Apr 2009 – Oct 2009

  • Pitched and produced both short daily news segments as well as long-form documentary programming for an international news network with up to 100 million daily viewers.
  • Identified and booked guests for live programming in response to international news developments, including the role of Twitter during the 2009 Iranian election, the debate over America’s use of water-boarding at Guantanamo and military offensives in Darfur.

  • Directed and edited a video series for WashingtonPost.com as part of the website’s core political presidential election coverage. The series engaged demographically-representative citizen reporters to investigate national economic issues in several battleground states.

  • Developed, produced, shot and edited 4-7 minute cinema vérité content for Everywoman, a program dedicated to covering stories about, and for, women. Commissioned pieces covered a diverse range of topics, from the abortion debate to the Islamic chaplaincy in the U.S. Army.
